Pro Cleaning Tips

For Dishes and Dishwashers

Use Bubble Bandit detergents to clean your dishwasher. Bubble Bandit Dishwasher Detergent and/or Glass Magic will clean your dishwasher as well as your dishes. Just as your glasses, cutlery and dishware have accumulated streaks and film, your dishwasher may have developed significant accumulations of hard water deposits and other sediments inside the drums and jets. Running the dishwasher empty with Bubble Bandit dish detergent will loosen this accumulation so it can be rinsed out of the machine. Depending on the amount of deposits that have built up in your machine, this may take a few cycles.

Use the appropriate amount of detergent. Bubble Bandit Dish Detergent is powerful so it is  important to not use too much detergent. The amount you need depends on how much food soil there is, not on how many dishes. For most machines, 2 tablespoons (1 scoop) in the wash dispenser cup is all that’s needed. For a very heavy load, place 1 tablespoon in the pre-wash cup as well. If you have a light load, reduce the amount of detergent. The “right” amount will vary from household to household depending on usage, water quality, and your machine. Some experimentation will yield the right amount for you.

Avoid caking in the dispenser.  We keep the anti-caking agent to a minimum as it detracts from Bubble Bandit’s fabulous cleaning abilities, so make sure your dispenser is completely dry before adding the powder.

Scrape dishes but don’t pre-rinse. No pre-rinsing is required. Dishwashers and Bubble Bandit work together best when there is actually something to remove.

Best way to load dishes:  Load plates into the bottom rack. Plates should fit between the slots, facing the center. If they lean, lean them in and downward. Be sure they are separated so that all surfaces are reached by the stream of water. Use the bottom rack for platters, cookie sheets, pots and pans. Platters and cookie sheets should go along the sides, with pots and pans facing downward, with their open sides toward the sprayer arm. The top rack is for glasses, cups, bowls and plastic. Be careful to position glassware on the prongs so they do not move around and break. Cutlery should be loaded handle side down, except for knives which pose a hazard if the blades point upward. Space the cutlery loosely, and be sure the spoons and forks are not “nesting” close together where water cannot reach all the surfaces.

For Laundry and Washing Machines

Washing machines need to be cleaned too.  You should clean your washing machine periodically to prevent limescale and other hard water mineral buildup, as well as eliminate odors and inhibit mold and mildew.  Simply use a load size scoop (2 oz) of Bubble Bandit Laundry Detergent and run a hot water cycle without laundry to clean your machine and keep it free of dirt, grime and bacteria.

Empty clothes pockets. Empty all pockets completely before laundering clothes. Coins, keys and other small objects can damage your drum or end up in the pump. And of course tissue or paper in pockets may break apart in water and soil your whole load.

Leave the door open.  Leave the washing machine door open between cycles to help prevent unpleasant odors and mold growth. Allowing air to circulate inside the drum helps dry out any moisture, reducing the likelihood of mold and mildew buildup.

Avoid Overloading. Avoid overloading your washing machine—even though it’s tempting to wash more clothes at once, it prevents water from properly circulating and can leave your items only partially cleaned. Be sure to untangle your clothes before loading them as well, ensuring that water and detergent can reach every part of the fabric.
